Blog Content & Website Design: Marney Wilde • Photographs by George Wilde

Corinto, Nicaragua

Within a few hundred yards of the ship was a small market square with local shops and a church. Because it was just before Christmas there was a large Christmas tree on display in the square near the church and a fenced-in area that had a Christmas scene on display. As is common where I live, religious elements mixed with more secular ones in this scene: there was a manger and a straw reindeer almost side by side. The items in this display were of miniature size, not the yard, life-size common in Southern California yards that create outdoor displays at this time of the year.

The first two photographs were taken from the ship. The horse in the next photo had pieces of cardboard stuck into the sides of the harness to protect the eyes and to serve as blinders. The rest of the photos show the seasonal decorations.
