Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Cabo San Lucas lies at the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula, in the Mexican state of Baja California Sur.

A restful day in Cabo

We’ve been here many times and a port tour would not usually stir up much interest, but it’s been a long time since we’ve sailed out to the end of the point for some new photos, so we’re decided to do that. We haven't been on a HAL tour here at all in the past, but the Land's End trip offered a good opportunity to easily get some new photos of the area, so we went with that rather than finding someone selling tours at the pier.

From the small tour boat we watched sea lions, seals, and tides interact in the sunshine while we viewed the interesting rock formations out at the point. Then a bus took us up to the Mona Lisa Restaurant, up above the beach floor for a scenic view back down to the water. It was a pleasant, and fairly inexpensive way to spend the afternoon in a place we usually don’t enjoy very much because of the pressure to buy tours and knick-knacks. I understand the need of those who live in an area to make a living, but when there are so many with a similar need, it’s a bit much. I know that a lot of tourists enjoy the bars and restaurants here, but that's not a major focus for us.
This is a tender port and the waves cooperated today; I thought the process went fast and trouble-free as there was minimal ship motion in the transfers between tender and shore and tender/ship.

Serendipity

A calm sea!

This is a tender-access port, so it was pleasant to have minimal turbulence for navigating our way onto the tender and back again.

We didn't try it, but others mentioned they found free wi-fi around the Marina, near the restaurants.
